On December 20, 2017, Saad Ahmed Javed, a Pakistani PhD student of Professor Sifeng Liu, was bestowed with “Outstanding Student Award” by the Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (NUAA), Nanjing, People’s Republic of China.
Saad Javed is an international student, and Chinese Government Scholar, at College of Economics and Management, NUAA, and has several achievements on his credits. In August 2017, his paper received “Excellent Paper Award” in IEEE GSIS conference in Sweden. After returning back to China from the Conference, the China Radio International interviewed him as the “First Pakistani Scholar of Grey System Theory.” Recently, his one paper has been published by Scientometrics, an SCI journal by Springer. In that paper he has proposed a hypothesis that “the less developed countries tend to possess higher relative growth rate in publications whereas the more developed countries tend to possess lower relative growth rate.” Soon after the publication of his paper online, the Senior Editor of the Nature Index, the news outlet of the famous “Nature” magazine, contacted him for interview to discuss this interesting hypothesis and its significance. Other than research work, he is actively involved in volunteer work, peace activities, community services and learning Chinese calligraphy. Recently, an institution of Nanjing University invited him to recite his poem on “China’s Dream and World Peace.” He also volunteered himself for teaching at different schools at Nanjing. Recently his calligraphic work was published in the booklet by NUAA’s Calligraphy Lab. To acknowledge his achievements, the Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, awarded him the Outstanding Student Award. In his address to the audience, Saad is quoted of saying, “Other than being the recipient of Chinese Government Scholarship, the honour of being the student of Professor Sifeng Liu – the pupil of the Founder of Grey System Theory – was the most important gift for me and this honour and prestige would now stay with me forever. From him I learned Grey System Theory and then one door after the other toward a greater achievement was unveiled on me.”
